CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University (SUU) Women's Basketball Team is set to embark on an exciting foreign tour to Australia, showcasing their talent on an international stage and embracing a once-in-a-lifetime cultural experience. The tour will take place from August 5th to August 16th, with thrilling games scheduled in Melbourne and Sydney.

"This foreign tour is a fantastic opportunity for our program to compete against some terrific Australian teams and explore the beauty and history of an incredible country. It will give our Australian players an opportunity to share their culture with us and we're excited to compete in front of their families and fans. We're looking forward to making some unbelievable memories."


The WAC Champion SUU Women's Basketball Team will kick off their Australian journey in the vibrant city of Melbourne from August 7th to August 12th. The team is eager to face tough competition, with two games against formidable opponents in the National Basketball League 1 (NBL1). On August 8th, the SUU Thunderbirds will take on the Ringwood Hawks at 7:00 pm AEST, followed by a match against the Melbourne Tigers on August 10th at 6:30 pm AEST.

The excitement doesn't end in Melbourne as the Thunderbirds head to the iconic city of Sydney from August 12th to August 16th. The pinnacle of their tour will be a highly anticipated match against the prestigious Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence on August 14th at 6:00 pm AEST.

Apart from the thrilling basketball action, the SUU Women's Basketball Team has an array of unforgettable experiences lined up during their time in Australia. They will visit the Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary for an up-close encounter with Australia's unique wildlife, including the opportunity to pet a kangaroo. The team will also explore the hidden laneways of Melbourne, discover local treasures at Queen Victoria Market, and enjoy breathtaking views from the Eureka Skydeck.

Immersing themselves in Australian culture, the team will attend an Australian Rules Football game to witness the nation's passion for sports. Additionally, the Thunderbirds will soak up the sun at the world-famous Bondi Beach and Manly Beach while taking in the picturesque coastal beauty.

The pinnacle of adventure awaits the team as they embark on the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb, an iconic experience that offers breathtaking panoramic views of Sydney.
