CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah will enter the 2024 Gymnastics season as the #24 ranked squad in the country. The Flippin' Birds finished the 2023 season ranked #22 in the country after beating the #12 Auburn Tigers at the NCAA Regionals in Los Angeles.

"We're thrilled to be ranked #24 entering the season. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our gymnasts, coaches, and support staff. We know that rankings can change quickly, so we're focused on putting in the work every day, and continuing to improve. Our goal is to compete at the highest level and make Southern Utah proud."


Southern Utah is competing in a new conference this season, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Flippin' Birds are the top-ranked team in the conference to begin the 2024 campaign.

The other teams in the conference are Alaska Anchorage (unranked), UC Davis (received votes), and Sacramento State (received votes).

The Thunderbirds will open the season on the road on January 6, 2024, at the Super 16 in Las Vegas.

The First home meet for Southern Utah will be on January 19, when the Flippin' Birds will host a tri-meet with Arizona State and Utah State.
