The Canyon View Falcon's Boys Cross Country team claimed a state championship in the 3A Class with a commanding performance at Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City, Tuesday.

The Falcons finished with a score of 63 to outpace second place Manti (110) and third place Ogden (112).

Only :46 seconds separated the Falcons 1st and 5th finishing team members, with a team average of time of 16:45 on the 5000 meter course.

Camden Larson of Emery claimed the individual title with a first place finish of 15:55.40.  The first Falcon to cross the finish line was Thomas Daniels (6th place; 16:31.10) followed by three consecutive Falcons crossing for 10th (Logan Hadley; 16.38.80), 11th (Payson Slade; 16;40.50) and 12th (Bret Sorenson; 16:41;40) places.

Nathaniel Callison (17:17.80) represented the final Canyon View points counted with a 24th place finish.

William Heaton finished in 36th place (17:35.40) and Klay Brian in 51st place (17:55.10).  A total of 120 runners finished the course.  All Falcon runners finished in the top-half of the field.

Each team entered 7 runners.  A team's top five finisher's points are counted toward the final team score.  Points are attributed according to finishing placement (1st place: 1 point; 2nd place: 2 points, etc.) and the team with the fewest points is champion.
