Cedar City’s True Life Center: Supporting 6,500 Monthly Through Food Pantry
The True Life Center in Cedar City, Utah, has been serving the community since 2010 through its food pantry outreach program, which has grown remarkably over the years. What began as an effort to provide meals to just two people each week has expanded to support over 6,500 individuals monthly. This tremendous growth is thanks to the dedication of volunteers, local grocery stores, and partnerships with organizations like the Utah Food Bank.
Coordinated by Hepsiba Serrano, who has led the pantry for over two years, the program relies on more than 250 volunteer hours each week. Volunteers assist in picking up donations, unloading food deliveries, and distributing food every Wednesday. Their commitment ensures that families in need receive the assistance they require, all while fostering a spirit of generosity and service within the community.
To sustain and further expand this outreach, True Life Center is hosting a golf tournament fundraiser on Saturday, October 5th, at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course in Cedar City. The event kicks off with breakfast at 8:00 AM, followed by a shotgun start at 9:00 AM. Participants will enjoy a full day of golfing, with lunch served later in the day. The event will feature exciting opportunities, including a hole-in-one contest where one lucky golfer could win a 2024 Ford Bronco. Additionally, cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, and drawings for other prizes will be held throughout the tournament.
All proceeds from the golf tournament will go directly to supporting the True Life Center Food Pantry. This event is not only a chance to enjoy a day on the golf course but also an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a program that provides crucial food assistance to the community.
To make room for the True Life Center Food Pantry Golf Tournament, there will be no public play at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course on Saturday morning. Course officials expect public play to be available by 2:00PM.
