CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah Freshman Brinlee Christensen has been awarded the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Freshman of the Week. This is the third time this season that Christensen has earned this recognition.

"Brinlee has been working incredibly hard this season and continues to develop each week. The work she puts in shows in her performance, and her vault last week was phenomenal."


Flying Freshman 

Freshman Brinlee Christensen continues to be a force for the Flippin' Birds in her debut season. The Freshman from South Jordan, Utah, set a new career high on the vault last week at the Washington quad meet, scoring 9.925. The score was good enough to win first place in the meet and helped the Thunderbirds score an impressive 49.200 in the rotation.

Christensen has consistently improved throughout the '24 campaign and finds herself in three out of four lineups for the Flippin' Birds. Christensen has a top score of 9.875 on both the bars and floor to add to her impressive vault from last week. She has been a welcome addition to a Southern Utah roster that had to replace 19 routines from a year ago.


Next Up

The Flippin' Birds will head to California on Saturday, March 23, for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Conference Championship. Sacramento State is hosting the meet in The Nest, and the other teams competing include UC Davis and Alaska Anchorage. The meet will begin at 4:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on overnght.com.
