President Russell M. Nelson announced plans for 15 new temples worldwide in his capstone speech at the weekend's General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Six of the fifteen are within the US. One temple is planned in Indonesia's capital city of Jakarta, a first for the world's largest Muslim nation. The Latter-Day Saints recognize 17-million members around the globe. No new temples were announced in Utah -- the Salt Lake Temple and Temple Square remain closed until 2026 as the church oversees a sweeping renovation project.
