Conservation officers from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are seeking information after two big game animals were killed illegally in Beaver County during the 2022 hunt. Officers discovered a dead deer fawn on October 8th, 2022 in the area of Big John' Flat in Beaver County. On further investigation, officer determined the deer had been shot and killed. The deer was female, and no hunts were happening during that time frame that allowed the harvest of a female deer.

In the second incident, officers investigated a dead branch antlered bull elk that was found in the Indian Peaks Wildlife Management Area, also in Beaver County. Officers determined that the elk had been killed during the spike only elk hunt in the area. The elk killed had antlers that branched above the ears, which meant that it did not qualify as a spike elk. Every year, Utah Conservation Officers conduct frequent investigations into illegally killing of wildlife. In 2022, officers confirmed a total of 1,283 wild animals and fish were illegally killed.
