Zion National Park, in partnership with the non-profit Zion Forever Project, has revealed the artists selected for its 2025 Artist-in-Residence program. This initiative offers professional artists the chance to immerse themselves in the park’s awe-inspiring landscapes, creating works that reflect the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Zion.

The 2025 program will feature three distinguished artists. Sylvia Friday, a basket weaver, will spend February in residence, drawing inspiration from the park’s natural materials and history. In June, harpist and composer Catharine DeLong will bring her unique musical talents to Zion, creating compositions influenced by the park’s serene yet dramatic environment. Lumi Barron, a stop-motion animator, will conclude the year’s program with a residency spanning October and November, capturing Zion’s dynamic landscapes through her animated storytelling.

Since its inception, the Artist-in-Residence program has welcomed a wide range of American artists, providing housing and a highly independent month-long residency. Participants engage with the public through tailored programs and open studio hours, allowing visitors to gain insights into their creative processes. Each artist also submits an original piece of work within six months of completing their residency, contributing to the park’s permanent collection or supporting the program through fundraising efforts facilitated by the Zion Forever Project.
