Iron County School District Foundation Prepares for Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser
The Iron County School District Foundation is gearing up for its annual golf tournament fundraiser, set for Wednesday, June 4, at Cedar Ridge Golf Course. With a 7:00 a.m. check-in and an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start, the event aims to raise funds for classroom mini-grants that enhance learning opportunities across the district.
Shauna Lund, Communications Director for the Iron County School District and Co-Originator of the Foundation, described the Foundation as the “fundraising arm” of the district.
“We’re a 501(c)(3), and our mission is to enhance the educational experience of every student,” Lund said during a recent appearance on KSUB’s Big Picture Morning Show. “We raise funds to pay for grants in classrooms for things that the school district just can't pick up.”
The mini-grants fund unique and engaging projects, from classroom art supplies to raising trout in a student-maintained fish tank. Each September, teachers are invited to pitch their ideas to a board of local business and community leaders. “We’ve had up to 35 teachers pitch, and we’ve been able to fund just about every one,” Lund said.
Paul Terry, Chairman of the Board for the Foundation, emphasized the importance of community investment. “Every penny that we earn, there’s no administrative fee taken out. It’s all volunteer for each of us,” Terry explained. “We want to allow teachers to enhance their teaching opportunities and not have to worry about that personal financial impact.”

The June 4 tournament is the Foundation’s major fundraising event. Team registration for a foursome is $600, with Hughes General Contractors sponsoring the event. Those interested can register by visiting sfnd.io/ICSDFG25, through the Iron County School District’s website under the “Parents” tab, or by contacting the district directly.

With all proceeds directed toward classroom mini-grants, the tournament offers a chance for community members to support education while enjoying a morning on the green.
