There is a new project that is expected to take place in the second half of this year that I think our desert area should emulate.

If so, you may want to be aware of the major project that is planned to start later this year. The work will be between Wilbur Street heading west to about Kelch Drive and Paradise Road. This will affect access to Harry Reid International airport so it will be something we should all be aware of.

But here is where it gets cool, and I think maybe literally. Part of the plan is to have westbound traffic moving underground. Ever since I experienced the Elon Musk Boring company tunnel in Las Vegas during the summer months, I have been dreaming of an underground road system in our hot desert. I know it would cost more than any of us wants to spend and it would only be slightly more comfortable, but beating the heat seems like it should be a priority.

Maybe we can’t do the infrastructure, but how hard would it be to make the freeway a tunnel? I mean come on.

Before I get too whiny, I need to applaud the evolving covered parking that is popping up everywhere in our area. I love the tall parking structures, not only are they efficient they also offer shaded parking—a heavenly treat on a hot summer afternoon.
