Changes At Lake Powell’s Ramps May Affect Your Boating Plans
If you’re planning a trip to Lake Powell, you may notice a change at the Wahweap Main Launch Ramp. Effective immediately, the ramp’s south (left) side is still open, but only for vessels 30 feet and under. The north (right) side is closed after recent damage made the surface unstable.
For those with larger boats—like houseboats—the Stateline Auxiliary Ramp is ready for use and just a short drive, less than two miles, from Wahweap Main. All other Wahweap services are operating as usual, so visitors can still enjoy a full day on the water.
“We recognize that changes to ramp access can be frustrating, especially during the busy season,” said Jake Ohlson, Acting Superintendent of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, in a press release.
Limiting use to smaller vessels is a necessary step to protect visitor safety, reduce the risk of accidents, and protect boats and park infrastructure from potential damage. The nearby Stateline Ramp remains fully open and available for all users, though we encourage visitors to plan ahead for potential delays during peak times.
Farther north, the Halls Crossing Ramp is closed for now, but Bullfrog Ramps are open and ready for boaters.
