Two missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are dead after a multi-vehicle collision in Beulah, North Dakota. A church spokesperson says 20-year-old Elder Robert "Tommy" Gardner of Riverton and 20-year-old Elder Jacob Aaron Kesler of Ely, Nevada, were traveling in a Volkswagen when it collided with the rear-end of a semi-truck on the highway. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says traffic including the semi-truck was stopped prior to the collision due to crews working to put out a vehicle fire. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The two missionaries were connected with the North Dakota Bismarck Mission. Kesler began his service in July 2022 and Gardner began in November of that year. The investigation is ongoing.
