Panguitch Lake Reopens To Fishing: KSUB News Summary
Utah wildlife officials are allowing anglers back to Panguitch Lake, after temporarily closing the reservoir when cracks were discovered at the dam this month. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources lifted its emergency fishing closure at the reservoir earlier today. The emergency closure was initiated on April 10th after cracks were found within the top two to five feet of the Panguitch Lake dam. The fishing restoration comes a little more than a week after Panguitch city officials lifted an evacuation notice as crews built a buttress across the damaged area. A 17-mile stretch of state Route 143, from Panguitch to Panguitch Lake, reopened on April 12th. A flood watch for the region issued as a precaution while repairs were underway has expired. The Garfield County Sheriff's Office is still asking people to refrain from going near some marked areas at the dam.

West Jordan Man Claims The Dog Shot It
A 20-year-old man is in custody after claiming his dog's behavior caused him to accidentally fire a rifle wounding a woman in an adjacent apartment. West Jordan police say Leonard Begay was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of illegal discharge of a firearm, drug possession, possession of a gun by a restricted person and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police arrived at an apartment complex off West Jordan Line Parkway at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Police located Begay on the floor above where a subsequent investigation found a 223-caliber rifle and marijuana. The investigation is ongoing.
Kevin Bacon Still Feeling Footloose
Kevin Bacon let students guide him back to his old locker at Payson High School this past weekend, making good on his promise to return to the Utah location where he filmed the iconic 1984 film "Footloose." Bacon arrived at the school on Saturday, four decades later, speaking at the football field and revisiting hallways made famous in the film. He also worked with students who had pledged to create five thousand essential resource kits for the actor's Sixdegrees.org foundation, which benefits underserved communities. His visit which included his receiving an honorary high school diploma capped off festivities culminating with the high school's prom late Saturday. The students had organized a year-long BacontoPayson social media campaign in hopes of getting the actor to visit the Utah school before a new building takes its place.
