SUU Mens Basketball Adds to Staff

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Men's Basketball head coach Rob Jeter adds two more assistants to his staff. Solon Ellis will be joining as a graduate assistant, and Tennessee Owens as a special assistant.

Solon Ellis was a GA for coach Jeter at Western Illinois and will continue in that role with the Thunderbirds.

Ellis was an assistant coach at Keyano College in 2021-22 and helped the team to an undefeated regular season, and second-place finish in the conference tournament.

Before coaching, Ellis played three years of collegiate basketball in Canada.

Owens comes to SUU by way of Albuquerque Prep School where he served as Head Coach of their Post-Grad Program that saw 10 players receive college scholarships. He also served as an Assistant Coach for their national roster that contains multiple Division 1 players. In his time at Albuquerque Prep, he oversaw all player development, handled the majority of opponent scouting, and had a hand in operations.

Owens played college basketball for New Mexico State University.
