SUU Mens Hoops Inks Three New Recruits
CEDAR CITY, Utah – SUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Jeter and staff are excited to announce the signing of three more student-athletes.
Prophet Johnson, Chazz Hutchison, and Donavhan Cain will be joing the Thunderbirds for the 23-24 season.
Prophet Johnson is a Junior College transfer and will join SUU by way of Bellevue College. The elite scoring guard averaged 24 points per game last season including an incredible 50-point outburst on 22-28 from the field. Johnson also averaged six rebounds and three assists per game.
"Prophet is a strong and experienced lead guard that has major athleticism. Will provide much needed depth at the PG position. He can score and defend at a high level." Said Coach Jeter.
Chazz Hutchison is a senior transfer from UC-Irvine where he spent last season as a sixth man for the Anteaters. Hutchison played in all 29 games, and started in two contests, averaging just over two points and two rebounds per game in nine minutes. He had his best game of the year against Life Pacific, where he had 10 points and nine rebounds.
"Chazz is going to add a lot of experience to our big depth. He is extremely athletic and plays above the rim. He is a great defender and will add much-needed size to our roster." Said Jeter.
Donavhan Cain is an incoming freshman from Cretin-Durham Hall High School in St. Paul, Minn. During his senior year Cain averaged 18 points per game, added 7.5 rebounds and shot nearly 40% from three.
"Donavhan is a young and extremely talented guard, that uses his athleticism to finish above the rim. He shoots the ball from range very well, and is going to be a great addition to our young core and the future of this program." Said Jeter.
