Senior forward Maizen Fausett has a career game on Wednesday night, but the effort wasn't enough as the Thunderbirds fell to Grand Canyon University 83-78 in front of the home crowd at the America First Event Center. Fausett set a career record by posting a 31 point night. The senior is now just seven points away from joining the 1500 point club at SUU. He would be just the third Tbird to reach that level. Senior guards Tevian Jones and Harrison Butler also contributed double digit scoring in the loss. The Thunderbirds now sit at an overall record of 19-11 overall and 11-6 in the Western Athletic Conference. SUU will close out the regular season on Friday night on Senior Night in a contest against California Baptist. The Tbirds won the earlier matchup with California Baptist in Riverside by a score of 72-71. Following the regular season, the Thunderbirds will head to Las Vegas to take part in the WAC Tournament. First games for that tournament will be on Tuesday, March 7th. SUU currently holds the number 4 seed and would have a first round bye.
