CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University men's basketball program has announced another non-conference matchup against a power-five school for the 2022-23 season, as the team will travel to Boulder, Colorado to face the University of Colorado on Wednesday, December 21.

"Colorado has been one of the most successful programs in the West the past two seasons, compiling back-to-back top-four finishes in the Pac-12," said SUU Head Coach Todd Simon. "As always, we want to schedule high-level opponents in our non-conference slate to challenge our program and raise our profile nationally. We feel this will be another tough game on a very rigorous non-conference schedule that is coming together."

Southern Utah's contest against Colorado will add to a loaded non-conference schedule that already features a road contest against reigning national champion Kansas, a neutral game at the Jack Jones Hoopfest against 2022 Big West Champion Cal State Fullerton, and contests against Sacramento State and either Hawai'i or the 2022 Sun Belt regular-season champion Texas State, at the North Shore Classic.

Colorado will present a tough test for the Thunderbirds, as the Buffaloes have put together four consecutive 20-plus win seasons and are coming off a year in which they amassed a record of 21-12, finishing fourth in the Pac-12 standings.

Southern Utah is also coming off of a highly successful season that saw them win 23 games, the second-most in the program's Division I history, in addition to reaching the semifinals of The Basketball Classic.

SUU will bring back a strong core of players from last season, and Simon and the rest of his staff have worked hard to bring in an abundance of new talent this offseason to combine with the returning players. Southern Utah's lineup has the potential to be one of the deepest throughout Simon's tenure, and they will be tested early by a difficult non-conference schedule.
