Salt Lake City received zero point four inches of rain at its official recording site at the International Airport. Prior to the storm, the city had received zero point forty-four inches of rain. The city normally receives just over two inches of rain each summer. Alta, in Little Cottonwood Canyon, collected almost an inch of rain from the same system and one station in eastern Lehi received almost 2 inches of rain.
Lehi Reports Some Flooding
Homeowners in Lehi say they had a close call as flooding from yesterday's rain storm threatened their residence. The water came a few feet into one family's backyard as local storm drains were blocked. City crews and area construction workers helped place sandbags and then pumped out the standing water. The Utah Department of Transportation says travel delays were reported on I-15 between Murray and Lehi due to the intensity of the storm and flooding.
