A group of Utahns wants voters to approve the new design for the state flag before it goes into use. The group filed paperwork on Monday seeking a state referendum on the new flag. The bill approving the new flag was passed by the legislature last week but hasn't been signed by the governor. If the group can get more than 134-thousand verified signatures in the next 40 days, the referendum could appear on the statewide ballot in November. The bill approving the new flag won't take effect until March of next year.
