DENVER – Tarleton's Beau Allen, Southern Utah’s Rodrick Ward and Tarleton’s Adrian Guzman have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Football Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Ward, a redshirt junior safety, secured two key takeaways for the Southern Utah defense late in the second half of a 31-17 homecoming victory against rival Utah Tech on Sept. 24. Ward finished the game with six tackles and a pair of fourth-quarter interceptions to preserve the lead in the final period and help deliver the Thunderbirds their first conference win as a member of the WAC.

Allen, a redshirt freshman quarterback transfer from Kentucky, kept his solid debut season at Tarleton rolling during a 43-28 win at North Alabama on Sept. 24. Allen connected on 18-of-29 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns in the Tarleton victory, adding 32 rushing yards on seven attempts for the Texans. Allen connected with teammate Jaden Smith on five different pass completions that covered 173 yards and accounted for two touchdowns for Tarleton in the contest.

Guzman, a sophomore kicker, was successful on two field goal attempts and converted all five of his PATs during the Tarleton road victory at North Alabama on Sept. 24. Guzman, the conference leader with a perfect 6-for-6 output on field goals thus far this season, connected from 35 yards and 20 yards for the Texans at North Alabama.
