SUU Again Earns National Recognition
Southern Utah University (SUU) is once again gaining national recognition as one of the top tier schools in the country.
The 2024 U.S. News and World Report rankings have been released and SUU was rated as the number two regional university in the state of Utah, and was tied as the 29th best public school in the west.
Each year, U.S. News and World Report evaluates 1,500 four year institutions. They base their rankings on 19 criteria points. To be included in the rankings, schools must have regional accreditation, be included in Carnegie's Basic classification but not designated as a “highly specialized” school.
Institutions must also have at least 100 undergraduate students, and have a reported six year graduation rate of full time, first year bachelor's degree seeking students in recent years.
Concurrently with the release of the U.S. News and World Report rankings, SUU also was also named as one of the 24 Best Regional Colleges by the Princeton Review. The Princeton Review rankings are a resource often used by prospective college students.
The recognition form the Princeton Review is significant because it is based on data from current students. Schools were chosen for being academically outstanding, and SUU students gave rave reviews of the academics, student body and campus life.
In reaction to these rankings, SUU President Mindy Benson in a press release said, “At SUU we strive to continually enrich the academic experience for our students. The hallmark of this University has been our caring faculty who provide high quality, personalized learning for our students.”
Now, with over 125 years of services to students in the region, SUU continues to provide an education that is both relevant and remarkable.
