Utah Man Drowns At Lake Powell: KSUB News Summary
On August 25, 2024 at approximately 3:00AM, National Park Service (NPS) Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Rangers were notified by San Juan County Utah Dispatch of a missing person who had fallen overboard from a houseboat on Lake Powell, in Wetherill Canyon. The person had fallen over 20 feet from an upper level of a privately owned houseboat. Wetherill Canyon is located on Lake Powell, approximately 40 boating miles from the Glen Canyon Dam, in San Juan County, Utah. National Park Service Rangers and San Juan County Sheriff's Office responded. The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation also provided assistance. Classic Air Medical searched the area by helicopter and did not locate the victim. The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Dive Team recovered the victim's body on August 25, 2024, at 12:36 p.m. Utah time. NPS Rangers on scene pronounced the death. The victim, Jackson Roy Law, a 41-year-old male, was a resident of Utah.
Richins To Stand Trial For Murder
A judge says a 34-year-old Utah mother who published a children's book about grief after her husband's death will now stand trial for his murder. Judge Richard Mrazik ruled on day two of Kouri Richins' preliminary hearing in Provo that there was probable cause to move to a jury trial. She is accused of giving Eric Richins a lethal dose of fentanyl in March 2022 at their Park City home. Richins entered pleas of "not guilty" today to all eleven counts, including aggravated murder, distribution of controlled substances and other fraud and forgery-related charges. She's also charged with an earlier attempt to kill him on Valentine's Day when she allegedly fed her husband a fentanyl-laced sandwich. The trial is set to start on April 28th, 2025.
Man Dead After Stabbing In Uintah County
A man is dead of injuries he received when he was stabbed multiple times at a home in Ballard. At approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a fight and found a man, later identified as 44-year-old Owen Shuck, unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. Police say he was taken to a local hospital where he died Sunday. Deputies tracked down 42-year-old Brandin Reynolds of Roosevelt in connection to the stabbing. He is now held in the Uintah County Jail on a parole violation. Deputies say the investigation is continuing with murder charges expected to be filed.
Human Case Of West Nile Virus In Utah County Is First Confirmed Case This Year
The Utah County Health Department says a resident is confirmed to have the first human case this year of the West Nile Virus. Health officials offered no additional information but did say it's a good idea to be careful not to get bitten by mosquitos because they spread the virus to humans. The virus may causes aches, pains, vomiting and diarrhea. In rare cases, it can be deadly.
