The Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games, an outreach department of Southern Utah University, has partnered with the Intermountain Interclub Association to add competitive figure skating to the 2025 programming. This collaboration will host the High-Altitude Challenge: A Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games Event from February 20-22, 2025, at the Olympic Oval in West Valley City, Utah.

This regional competition provides a unique opportunity for figure skaters from Utah and the Intermountain West to qualify for the State Games of America. As a national, Olympic-style festival featuring U.S. Figure Skating's national amateur championship, the State Games of America offers athletes a prestigious platform. The Utah Summer Games, as the official rights holder for Utah's state games through the National Congress of State Games, will sanction the event, allowing skaters of all ages and abilities to compete for a spot on the national stage.

He expressed optimism about future figure skating events statewide, including potential programs in southern Utah.

Michelle Thomson, Competitions and Events Director for Salt Lake Figure Skating, shared her enthusiasm: "This event is not only a celebration of their passion for figure skating but also a pathway for every skater to dream big, compete at the national level, and qualify for the State Games of America."
