It was an active weekend for law enforcement in rural eastern Nevada.

Friday, the Lincoln Country Sheriff’s office issued a report of a deputy involved shooting near Caliente that resulted in the closure of US 93.  The Sherriff’s office promised a news release would provide details; no personnel were injured.

In that promised release, the office announced details of a drug interdiction stop,  seven people were charged with drug possession crimes. Four firearms were seized, along with a variety of illegal narcotics, including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms and acid.

On Saturday, Lincoln County Sheriff’s office also reported one of its cruisers sustained heavy damage when it collided with a cow while responding to a call.  The deputy and K9 aboard escaped serious injury.
