SUU Business School Hosts Virtual Thunder Sales Event With Exciting Prizes
The Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business Professional Sales program recently hosted a successful virtual Thunder Sales event. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the competition was conducted online using video conferencing and personal recordings. Despite the challenges, the event featured a competitive atmosphere, with participants vying for gift cards sponsored by local businesses for first and second places.
The competition was divided into distinct parts, with a personal pitch and role-play-centered rounds completed separately. The first section was open to any SUU students, requiring participants to submit a short video pitch to judges. The second section, exclusive to students in the Professional Sales program, focused on a role-play competition, with submissions evaluated by judges.
The final round featured an in-person meeting between the finalists and the director of the Professional Sales program, Kurt Wankier, who acted as the final buyer for the participants. This round was also reviewed by finalist judges to determine the top three scores and further placements in separate groups. Prizes included a $100 company-sponsored gift card for the first-place winner and $50 for each second-place winner.
Although the event lacked the usual activities, such as a career fair, dinner for students, and in-person competition, the Professional Sales program still provided students with valuable experience. The Professional Sales program at SUU is dedicated to offering students the skills and experience necessary to launch successful careers post-graduation. Through competitions like Thunder Sales, the program significantly impacts students' professional development.
