Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting at I-15 Point of Entry

A man is dead after an Officer-Involved Shooting at the I-15 Northbound Point of Entry just inside the Utah State Line from Arizona Wednesday morning. This happened around 7:21am when the UHP got a call about a suspicious vehicle there.

The Suspect Was Acting Strange Toward Police, Others

When troopers arrived, they found a man acting erratically, while brandishing a weapon. Troopers contained the scene and called out other agencies, including St. George Police. They sent a crisis negotiator, along with their SWAT team out to the scene. Attempts to de-escalate with the man were futile and one officer ended up opening fire on the suspect, who died at the scene.

The Investigation is Just Getting Underway

The I-15 Point of Entry was closed while the incident was happening, and remained that way for a time after the shooting for the investigation. The Washington County Critical Incident Task Force will be handling the investigation.
