Summit County Cleaning Up After Flooding: KSUB News Summary

Summit County is cleaning up after severe flooding from torrential thunderstorms yesterday. Coalville officials say the area saw some of its worst flooding in years, affecting homes and shutting down roads. Flash flooding closed Chalk Creek Road from 425 East to Border Station Road. It reopened by 5:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.

One Killed, Two Injured In Box Elder County Lightning Strike

One person is dead and two others were injured after their fishing boat was struck by lightning in the Bear River. The Box Elder County Sheriff's Office deputies say they arrived on the scene just after midnight Sunday to find that the storm sent three people into the water. Two made it to shore but the third disappeared under the water. Multiple agencies conducted a search of the river, locating the body around 5:30 a.m. The two survivors were treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim's identity has not been released.

Man Injured In Officer Involved Shooting

Police say a 46-year-old Roy man was injured in a shootout with police this past weekend. The man was wanted in connection with an investigation by the state's Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The shooting happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Roy police say they pulled over a driver in a vehicle sought in the investigation but he fled the scene. Officers found the armed man at South 2775 West. He began shooting at police who returned fire. The suspect was taken to the hospital and his condition is not known.

Riverton Man From Gunshot Wound

Riverton police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man earlier today. Police responded just after midnight to a report that shots were fired in Monarch Meadows. Officers found a man who had gunshot wounds and was in critical condition. Police say the teenager was wearing a bulletproof vest, and was armed. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. Detectives recovered a jacket and an ID card listing an Orem address. Riverton and Orem police went to the location and took two people in for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
