The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is asking for public feedback about prairie dogs. The division is recommending some updated rules, which would take place if the animals are de-listed under the Endangered Species Act. One of the proposed changes includes how prairie dogs are removed in situations of conflict. This means the division would allow for prairie dogs to be removed for human health and safety. The change would also require surveys before an area is developed, including re-locating any prairie dogs found during the process. Public comments can be submitted at wildlife.utah.gov.
