Childhood Home for Movie Villain Located in Utah

If you are a fan of horror films, you know the Halloween franchise that stars the disturbed masked guy named Michael Myers. There have been 13 Halloween movies and the house where the horror film is set is a story in itself.

The first house in the movies was in Pasadena California. It still stands there today. In later movies, a replica of the original house was rebuilt as a set. This was used until the fifth installment “Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers”.

For reasons only known to the director, they looked for a new location for the home Michael grew up in. Deciding to film it in Utah, they scouted locations and found a large rambling place that the director liked.

This is a three-story mansion on a corner in Salt Lake with looming steps out front and rambling rooms for Michael to chase victims around in. It looks nothing like the house from the first movies and fans of the series were not pleased.

Still, there was plenty of the masked killer running around slaying folks, so the fans still came out to see it. The next movie and the sequels after it go back to a house similar to the original one.

What Happened to the Michael Myers Home Used in the Fifth Movie?

The home is still standing in Salt Lake and was purchased a couple years ago by a couple who has restored it. In a story from Fox 13, the couple says they would have even if it hadn’t been used in the movie as they like all the decorative wood inside.

There are many homes and buildings that claim to be haunted. I’m not sure you can include the home in Utah on this list. Unless you consider a place where a bunch of Hollywood types hung out as scary, and I wouldn’t blame you.

So, if you want to visit the house where Michael Myers supposedly grew up in that looks nothing like the one from the original movie, you can find it in Utah. And if you are confused by what all this means, think how Mike feels.
