Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Deputy – KSUB News Summary
On Saturday (11/17/2024), deputies were responding to a vehicle roll-over on Old Highway 91. While en-route to location a deputy in a marked patrol vehicle was involved in an accident with a motorcycle within the Shivwits Band Reservation.
The rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on scene.
The Deputy was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and has since been released. The investigation will be conducted through the Utah Department of Public Safety, Utah Highway Patrol.
Officers Shoot, Kill Armed Man
(West Haven, UT) -- A man is dead after being shot by deputies in West Haven. Police were called to an apartment building on Sunday for a report of a domestic violence incident. The Weber County Sheriff's Office says that when officers arrived on the scene, the suspect retreated into an apartment and locked himself inside with a woman. When officers eventually entered the apartment, the man approached officers while armed with a knife which is when the three deputies opened fire and killed the suspect. The man's identity has not yet been released.
Suspect Arrested After AMBER Alert and Police Chase in Bountiful
(Davis County, UT) -- A suspect in an AMBER Alert for a 12-year-old girl was arrested Sunday after crashing into a police car during a chase in Bountiful. Authorities say the girl was abducted early Sunday by a Hispanic man in a white Chevrolet Camaro. Police later spotted the vehicle, and the pursuit ended when the suspect collided with a Woods Cross Police car. The girl was found unharmed, and the suspect was arrested with a handgun recovered. The officer in the crash sustained minor injuries.
Energy Assistance Grants Now Available
(Salt Lake City, UT) -- As winter is quickly approaching, residents across Utah can now apply for grants to help pay for winter energy bills. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is a federal grant program which aims to lower energy bills for those in need. To qualify, homeowners or renters must have incomes which are at or below 150-percent of the Federal Poverty Limit. The program offers up to two-thousand-dollars in assistance for each household.
