>>Utah Voters Go to Polls for Tuesday Primary

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- The regular primary election is today in Utah. Four Republican candidates in the state are vying to replace retiring U.S. Senator Mitt Romney including former state House Speaker Brad Wilson and U.S. Rep. John Curtis. Former President and presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has endorsed Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs in that contest. Jason Walton, who's pitching himself as a businessman in the style of Trump, is also running. Primary voters in Utah will also choose candidates for governor, the U.S. House and the state Legislature. Voters can cast ballots until eight p.m. tonight.

>>Man Tries To Hijack TRAX Train

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Police say a 26-year-old passenger who tried to hijack a TRAX train in Salt Lake City is in custody. Utah Transit Authority police say Isaiah Spendlove was on board a TRAX train on Saturday when he began beating on the door of the driver's cabin and yelling at the engineer. Spendlove was allegedly trying to gain entry into the cabin to force the engineer to drive the train backward to the stop he had missed near 150 South 400 West. The engineer and another passenger tried to get the suspect to get off the train. Upon arrival, police placed Spendlove in a "taco" wrap device for restraint and transport.

>>Utah Ranks 3rd For Child Well-Being

(St. George, UT) -- A new national report shows Utah is the third-best state for children's overall well-being. The Kids Count Data Book ranked the 50 states on a number of indicators such as family and community, economic well-being, education, and health. The Beehive State ranked first in the family and community category for having a low number of teen births and children living in high-poverty areas. Its worst rank was 13th in the health category, which saw an increase in low birth weight babies in 2022 compared to 2019. Only New Hampshire and Massachusetts fared better than Utah in the ranking.

>>New Dinosaur Species Found In Montana

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A new dinosaur species discovered in Montana is going on display in Utah. The Natural History Museum of Utah says the Lokiceratops rangiformis [[ ran-gi-FOHR-mees ]] was discovered in the Treasure State's northern badlands in 2019 and the species was announced last week in the scientific journal "PeerJ." Its name was inspired by the Norse god Loki for its "curving blade-like horns" which the museum says are the largest ever found on a horned dinosaur. Officials also noted the Lokiceratops was the largest horned dino of its time and appeared at least 12-million years before its relative the Triceratops.
