Washington County Person In Custody For Parents Murder: KSUB News Summary

Washington City police say a 28-year-old Utah woman is in custody facing multiple charges in connection with the double homicide of her parents in Washington Fields. On Wednesday, police arrested Mia Bailey who had turned herself in after a standoff with officers that began the day before. A tip had lead police to Bailey who had been sighted in the Horseman Park and River Road area of St. George. At that time, Bailey pulled a gun and held it to her head as she eluded officers. Bailey surrendered to authorities in St. George. She is charged with 11 felony counts related to the murders of her parents, Joseph and Gail Bailey, and the alleged attempted murder of her brother. Police say Bailey broke into her parents' home on Tuesday, and shot them multiple times. She then went in search of her brother and his wife who were barricaded in a bedroom. She allegedly shot through the door and then left the house, when her brother was able to contact police.

Cache County Woman With Multiple Felony Child Sex Abuse Charges

The Cache County Sheriff's Office say a 75-year-old Hyde Park woman is facing multiple charges of felony child sex abuse that go back at least three decades. Ruth Z. Worthen was arrested and booked on Tuesday following a primary investigation that involved at least four victims who first came forward in March 2023 to recount threats of physical violence and sexual victimization when they were children. Victims told deputies that the incidents occurred in various locations in the county. Deputies say the victim's were interviewed separately in order to gather a clear picture of the years of abuse and that other victims may wish to contact the office as a result of this investigation.

Salt Lake City Police Make Arrest In Shooting Incident

Salt Lake City police say a man is under arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of Nico Christopher Patino late last month. Patino was shot and died at the scene in the city's Glendale neighborhood on May 26th. On Tuesday, police arrested and booked Abdihakim Mohamed on one count of aggravated murder. Police say no immediate arrest followed the shooting as officers sought out possible witnesses to the shooting.

Median Home Prices Continue To Rise In Utah

Median home prices in Utah are higher than a year ago. A Bankrate report notes that in May that home price was almost 523-thousand dollars, which is about a two-point-four percent increase over 2023. The West and Northeast are the least affordable areas of the country for Americans to purchase a home. The report states that the annual salary needed to purchase a home like this has also increased more than 50-percent in 22 states since early in 2020. Utah, Montana, Tennessee, South Carolina and Arizona had the largest increases. Officials say May may show a glimmer of relief as there was a slower price growth rate reported as more homes came onto the market.
