On Saturday at 2:40pm Cedar Communications received a 911 call regarding the drowning of a 14-year-old Male at New Castle Reservoir. On scene deputies said two brothers, one 17 years old and the other 14 years old were both in Kayaks, both were not wearing life jackets, and both were attempting to knock each other out of their Kayak. Information from the Iron County Sheriff's Department reported the 14-year-old didn’t know how to swim, and went under in about 10-12 feet of water. By the time 911 was notified, the 14 year-old had been under the water for approximately 10 minutes. Authorities recovered the body of the 14-year old on Sunday Morning. Iron County Sheriff’s Deputies, Rescue 31 paramedics, State Dive Team members from Iron and Washington Counties, along with Lifeflight helicopter responded to the scene.
