Teen Sentenced For Attack On Woman

(St. George, UT) -- A LaVerkin teen has to register as a sex offender following an attack on a woman in Washington County. Oliver Hepworth appeared before a judge in St. George this week after pleading guilty to forcible sexual abuse, kidnapping, and assault. The 18-year-old admitted to police that he attacked a woman in a St. George Tabernacle Street parking garage last November, and ran when the victim started screaming for help. The judge also gave Hepworth a year in jail with credit for time served, along with probation. The judge also told the teen "no drugs and not one drop of alcohol.

Utah Bill Allows "Bring Your Own Blood" for Medical Procedures

The bill mandates that hospitals allow directed donations, including from friends or family, unless in emergencies. 13 Arrested, Including Alleged Gang Members, in ICE Operation

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Thirteen people, including several alleged gang members, were arrested in Salt Lake City on Sunday in a joint operation led by multiple agencies. According to the Rocky Mountain Division of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, four of the individuals arrested are suspected gang members. All are currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for processing.

 

Child Marriage Bill Headed To Governor's Desk

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A bill that strengthens restrictions on child marriages in Utah is awaiting the governor's signature. The measure, which passed the state House and Senate, bans 16-or-17-year-olds from marrying someone if the age gap is greater than four-years. Currently that gap stands at seven years. The proposed law also requires a 72-hour waiting period.
