Church Discloses Unauthorized Activity In Some Computer Systems
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has disclosed that they “detected unauthorized activity in certain computer systems.” In the statement, it was told that personal data of some church members, employees, contractors and friends of the church had been affected. None of the affected data included donation history or banking information tied to online donations. The church has been working with U.S. federal law enforcement agencies and third party cyber security experts. The unauthorized activity was noticed in March of 2022. At the request of the investigating authorities, the church did not disclose the activity until today. The church is now notifying anyone who may have been affected by the unauthorized activity, even if there is no legal requirement. People who have questions about the cyber attack and any impact on their church information can get more details at this website.
