Joe Biden is making a stop in Utah during the first part of August as he tours the southwest. It was announced he will visit Utah, Arizona and New Mexico from the Aug. 7- 9. There are more details coming, but there is what we know.

He plans on talking about climate change and some government initiatives and also plans to get in a fundraiser for his reelection campaign. We don’t get a lot of sitting presidents visiting the beehive state. What could we do to get him to stay longer and entice future presidents to visit?

First off, he likes ice cream and so do we. In fact, we have all kinds of delicious sugary places. Maybe we could give him a tour of all the different options.

Secondly, he needs money for that expensive upcoming campaign. Utah is 71% public land, so maybe he could have some sort of statewide garage sale and auction some of it to private bidders.

Lastly, it seems like the government has set aside a ton of money for infrastructure improvements and it would be nice if more was directed to Utah. Specifically, I would like to see a bridge across the Grand Canyon, so we don’t have to drive around it anymore. It wouldn’t be that much further to get to Phoenix as it is to Salt Lake if we didn’t have to drive around that world wonder.

My idea is we take Biden on a long car trip through Page and around with a carload of tired kids. That should get him focused on my bridge plan.

Seriously though, I do hope the President feels welcome in our state, even if we didn’t vote for him. Let's just make sure there is plenty of ice cream.
