American Fork Woman Killed In Explosion/Fire

A woman is dead after a large explosion and fire destroyed a duplex, scattering debris across a neighborhood in American Fork Wednesday. Firefighters responded to the structure near 100 North and 300 E. Main at around 5:50 a.m. When safe entry was gained at about 8 a.m., crews found the woman's body. A second woman was evacuated from the duplex unit with no initial report of injuries. Other homes and duplexes sustained heavy damage from flying debris including a truck that was hit by a part of the house. A pet dog was also located nearby. Crews from both Rocky Mountain Power and Dominion Energy were at the scene. The cause of the explosion and fire is under investigation.

Two Teens Arrested In Connection With Fatal Shooting

A 21-year-old man is dead from an apparent gunshot wound in rural Utah County. Police say Alexzia "Alex" Franco was last seen alive by his girlfriend on Sunday as he talked to people in a car near her Taylorsville home. The woman says she got concerned when she heard a gunshot and saw the vehicle drive off. Franco's body was found early Tuesday in a remote desert area of Utah County, around the western part of Lehi. Police say two teenaged boys, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, were arrested and booked into the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center on multiple felony charges in connection to the murder.
