A 44-year-old southern Utah man convicted in 2016 in a federal drug distribution case is in custody for allegedly transporting drugs and guns from Las Vegas to Utah. Police say Jeremy Daniel Perkins was arrested on Sunday for investigation of drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon by a restricted person, failing to stop for an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. Perkins was charged Tuesday in 5th District Court.

Investigation Underway In Racist Incident Involving University Of Utah Athletes

Police say women basketball team members from both Utah and Irvine, California were targets of racism during their stay in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The teams were participating in the NCAA tournament in neighboring Spokane. In one alleged incident that occurred this past Friday, players were heading to dinner when a pickup truck with a Confederate flag passed them. At that point other passersby started yelling racial slurs and revved car engines while the women were walking. The mayor of Coeur d'Alene has strongly condemned this and other alleged incidents against team members that are under investigation.

Richins Gets Additional Charges In Connection To Husband's Death

A 33-year-old Kamas woman all ready charged with the murder of her husband is facing additional criminal allegations. Police say Kouri Richins is now charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, first-degree felonies. She also faces two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, two felony counts of insurance fraud and two counts of mortgage fraud as well as three counts of felony forgery. She was first accused of administering a fatal dose of fentanyl to her 39-year-old husband Eric Richins sometime between March 3rd and 4th in 2022. Police now allege she tried giving him a lethal dose of drugs a weeks earlier on Valentine's Day. Richins was arrested a year after her husband died. She had gained fame at that time for publishing a children's book as a widow dealing with her personal loss.

Drug Bust Nabs Thirty Pounds Of Fentanyl

Police say an undocumented immigrant living in Murray is under arrest after authorities found 30 pounds of fentanyl in his apartment. American Fork police say Gustavo Flores-Hernandez was taken into custody after detectives with the Utah County Major Crimes Unit served a court-authorized search warrant on March 21st. Seized during the search were the fentanyl pills, a distributable amount of cocaine and a large amount of cash. Police also found a Honduran passport identifying Flores-Hernandez.
