The Utah state auditor says only a few complaints out of thousands submitted merited action for supposed violations of the state's new transgender-exclusionary public restroom law. State Auditor John Dougall says his office has identified five that required attention. Dougall also notes he's not happy about taking on the role of Utah's "bathroom monitor." The new law mandates that his office run the online complaint portal for those who want to report state facilities that are not in compliance. After the law took effect, the tip line was bombarded by more than 12-thousand often frivolous or even fake complaints.

Unified Police Release More Details On Officer Involved Shooting

Unified police are releasing new details concerning the fatal officer-involved shooting at a Millcreek home near South 2300 East on Monday. Officers say they first responded to the home after receiving a report of an ongoing kidnapping and hostage situation involving a 15-year-old victim. Upon arrival, officers say they found an armed man. During the confrontation, the man was shot by police and he died at the scene. Police have not yet released the identity of the teen victim or the name of the suspect who died. As protocol requires, the West Valley City Police Department will now handle the investigation.

Summit County Shooting Leads To Multiple Charges

Multiple people are in custody in connection to a shootout at a short-term rental property in Peoa in rural Summit County early Sunday. Police say about 50 shots were fired at a party where about 300 people were attending. At least two men were injured. On Tuesday in 3rd District Court, 23-year-old Manuel A. Pimentel-Gonzalez, 23-year-old Francisco Enrique Romero Fuenmayor, 20-year-old Alejandro Carreno-Romero and Enrique Diaz were each charged with multiple counts of felony discharge of a firearm with injury and felony discharge of a firearm -- all with gang activity enhancements. Police say Pimentel-Gonzalez allegedly got a submachine gun from a BMW and threatened a man during the shootout. Police later arrested 18-year-old Jose Enrique Suniga-Diaz who was booked into the Summit County Jail for investigation of discharge of a firearm causing injury. The investigation is continuing.
