Teenager In U Of U Burn Center Following Collision: KSUB News Summary
A teenager is in the University of Utah Burn Center after his vehicle hit a tree just after midnight Thursday. Lone Peak police say an off-duty officer was headed home when he observed a speeding vehicle on Canal Boulevard Highland. He attempted to stop the driver of the vehicle, later identified as a 17-year-old male. The teenager ignored the officer and went through a red light, veering off the road into a tree in Windsor Meadows Park. Lone Peak and American Fork police worked quickly to free the driver as his vehicle burst into flames. He was transported to the Salt Lake City-based burn center where he is listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
Bus Carrying Dixie High School Soccer Teams Collides With Garbage Truck
A collision involving a St. George's Dixie High School bus and a garbage truck in Spanish Fork is under investigation. Police say members of the school's soccer team were passengers on the bus yesterday when it collided with the truck. Some students were treated for injuries at a local hospital. The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital but the extent of their injuries is not known.
Church To Honor Upcoming 100th Birthday Of President
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says President Russell M. Nelson is turning 100 soon and a media celebration is underway. The church is sponsoring a "special birthday broadcast" in his honor today, which is just one month before his birthday on September 9th. Body Found In Provo Canyon
Authorities have launched a death investigation after a body was discovered in Provo Canyon. Orem police located the body at the mouth of the canyon. A preliminary investigation is linking the body to a missing Lehi man, though his identity hasn't been released. Police have offered no additional information.
