Smith Family Portraits Featured In New Church Exhibit

A exhibit opening Monday at the Church History Museum brings unique artifacts to Salt Lake City. The items on display were purchased recently by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The works arrived from Independence, Missouri, and will be on display until October 26th. Included are the original Liberty Jail door and portraits of Joseph and Emma Smith. Officials say the paintings are rare companion portraits of the couple. The door and the paintings were bought from the Community of Christ along with the Kirtland Temple in Ohio and other buildings.
