Utah Tax Revenue Falling

New numbers from the Utah Tax Commission show that worries about a major drop in state tax revenue are likely to be realized. Sales tax revenue in March was down by about four-tenths of one percent compared to the year before. While that doesn't sound too bad, some of the individual tax categories showed significant drops. Arts and entertainment tax collections fell by 51-percent, hotel and motel taxes dropped by 47-percent and gasoline taxes were down 13-percent. State officials expect April's tax figures to be even worse.
