A seven year old lost his life as the result of a crash on State Route 14. The incident took place on Friday evening. According to information provided by the Utah Department of Public Safety, at about 6:10pm Friday, a driver of a GMC pickup truck was traveling westbound on the highway at approximately mile post 27. According to reports, that vehicle drifted in to the east bound lane where it clipped a trailer being pulled behind a Ford F350. The driver of the GMC lost control of the vehicle and crossed completely in to the east bound lane where the vehicle the impacted with a Kia Soul. The Kia was being driven by a mother with hew two children in the rear seat. All the occupants in the Kia were restrained. The oldest of the two children sustained injuries from impacting the rear of the front passenger seat. He later succumbed to those injuries. The other child and the mother were transported to the hospital in stable condition. The driver of the GMC was transported by helicopter in critical condition. State Route 14 was closed for approximately 3 hours due to the crash.
