With the stunning displays of colors on the mountains, the shortening of daylight and the cooling of temperatures, preparations are underway in Cedar City for upcoming fall and winter holiday celebrations.

Downtown Trick or Treating

The annual Hocus Focus Trick of Treat event is set for Historic Downtown Cedar City on Saturday, October 22nd. The annual event is a favorite among members of the community and downtown business owners. Children are invited with their families to trick or treat while exploring and supporting local businesses in Cedar City. This year, the Delta Psi Omega sorority of Southern Utah University is helping with the promotion and organization of the event, and are hoping to participate on an annual basis. The event will run from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and everyone of all ages are invited to join in.

Dancers Sought For Lighting Ceremony

Looking a little deeper in to the holiday season, Cedar City staff and committee members are excitedly planning festivities for the annual Historic Downtown Lighting Ceremony. This year, the ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 26th. This year, the city is partnering with renowned choreographer Mic Thompson. Thompson will choreograph a celebration with a collection of community dancers being showcased in the presentation. Thompson has traveled worldwide over the last 25 years and has a variety of clients that includes several cruise lines, Disney, and has worked on Broadway. Dancers aged 17 to 24 are being invited to apply to be a part of the celebration. Interested persons can make application here. Planners are saying that many surprises are in the works.
