The Utah Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Identification is making the past five years of crime data available in 5 interactive dashboards. The new dashboards allow the public to view and sort data by jurisdiction or law enforcement agency to compare trends happening across Utah. Data will be updated monthly. Data on domestic violence, hate crimes, and law enforcement officers killed or assaulted will also be available. Data for most categories will be available on a rolling 5-year schedule.

Why The Change?

For years, law enforcement agencies have submitted monthly crime statistics to BCI for publication in the annual Crime in Utah report. This report has traditionally been released months after the end of the reporting year. Using the new dashboards, users will have access to statistical information specific to the jurisdiction of any law enforcement agency that reports crime stats to the state. They will also be able to compare information across jurisdictions. You can access the dashboards here.
