Governor Seeks Tuition Freeze In Budget Recommendations
Governor Spencer Cox wants a tuition freeze to help public degree-granting colleges and universities. The proposed tuition freeze is part of the governor's budget recommendations he outlined Friday ahead of the next session of the state legislature. Cox explained that increases in tuition and fees are outpacing inflation and median household incomes. Last year, the state's higher education board approved tuition increases of almost three-and-a-half percent systemwide.
